Farsons recalls Aquadot batch

A batch of Aquadot Bottled Water has been found to be defective and was recalled from the market yesterday, Ray Sciberras, General Manager of the Soft Drinks Business Unit at Farsons, announced yesterday.
The batch consists of 36 pallets of which eight pallets were still in the company stores. The bottles affected are clearly coded as Batch 12 of June 2003. During the production of this particular batch only there was a component failure which resulted in the water having a pungent smell and sharp taste.
Sciberras said that the product had no microbiological faults, and the product recall is being carried out in line with the procedures laid down in the ISO 9001 standard. The recall is more of a precautionary measure as the quality of this particular batch of Aquadot cannot be guaranteed at this time.
Sciberras said that Farsons take its quality responsibilities very seriously and in fact ordered the suspension of all sales of Aquadot even though a relatively small quantity of the production run was affected.
The Department of Public Health has been informed about the situation and any queries about the product should be made on Farsons Freephone No. 8007 4403.
