Air Malta’s new board meets for the first time

The new Chairman and Board of Directors of Air Malta plc last week held the first board meeting today, July 2, 2003, since the Board was appointed by the Minister for Information Technology and Government Investment Dr Austin Gatt on June 23.
The meeting was attended by Lawrence Zammit, Chairman, and directors Paul Bonello, Joe Fenech Conti, Euchar Mizzi, Noel Radmilli and Michael Soler. Raymond Arpa is the Worker Director. Ernst Funk, Chief Executive Officer of Air Malta, and Air Malta Chief Operating Officer Joe Cappello also attended the meeting. Dr Catherine Tabone is the Group Company Secretary.
Mr Zammit spoke about the important role which Air Malta plays in the Economy of the Maltese islands, particularly within the framework of in-coming and outgoing tourism and the development of industry and services in general.
Mr Zammit felt confident that with the input of the new Board Members, the Air Malta Senior Management, Staff and the Unions, as well as the support of the business sector and the general public who uses Air Malta services, the airline will be able to face the challenges in the
local and international
markets.
