Actavis among Europe’s 50 fastest growing companies

A list of Europe’s fastest growing companies to be published next Friday by an independent pan-European association of entrepreneurs is expected to put pharmaceutical company Actavis among Europe’s top 50 fastest growing companies, Business Today can reveal.
Icelandic-owned Actavis is a generics pharmaceutical company with a substantial presence in Malta. The Malta plant, situated at Bulebel, is a manufacturing facility with a research and development capacity.
Actavis Malta aims to be the company’s supply point for generic medicines to markets within the European Union.
Europe’s 500 is an independent pan-European listing of high growth and job creating companies. It is published by Europe’s Entrepreneurs for Growth, an association of entrepreneurs formerly known as GrowthPlus.
The association created Europe’s 500 in 1995 and uses the key findings of the Europe’s 500 research to advocate on behalf of high growth companies.
In their nomination Europe’s 500 lauds Actavis’s “outstanding employment growth over the last three years” and places the company amongst the top 500 companies selected from across 25 European countries. Actavis’s performance, which included an aggressive acquisition policy that also included the former Pharmamed pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Malta, has ranked the Icelandic company among the top 50.
Headquartered in Iceland, Actavis runs manufacturing plants in Malta, Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia and the US. It employs 7,000 people and is listed on the Icelandic stock exchange.
Europe’s 500 official list will be published on Friday on the association’s website, www.europes500.com.
