Vanilla Telecoms with first broadband service over fixed wireless

Vanilla Telecoms Ltd announced Malta's first Broadband internet service over fixed wireless - VanillaSKY.
The service uses Motorola hardware and VanillaSKY is capable of delivering speeds of up to 14 Megabits to multiple clients. The service operates on the 5.4Ghz band.
The service is now available in Sliema, Valletta, Gzira, Msida, Floriana, G'Mangia, Ta' Xbiex, San Gwann, Gharghur, San Pawl tat-Targa, Naxxar, Mosta, Attard, B'kara, Sta. Venera, Gzira, Ta'Giorni, St. Julians, Madliena, Pembroke, St Andrews, Tal-Ibragg and Swieqi.
VanillaSKY offers a number of advantages over ADSL and Cable Internet offering lower costs than current business internet connection rates, a faster upload speed that allows you to send emails quicker and is connected to both Vodafone and Datastream for a redundant international connection.
The service offers lower ping times, which translate to clearer VoIP conversations and smoother game playing. Ping times are around 10ms.
The system also encrypts all traffic unlike ADSL and cable traffic which is unencrypted.
The service coverage will be increased as demand for the service dictates. Prices start at Lm18 per month for an unlimited service.
