Initiatives to encourage women in business launched

The Malta Association of Women in Business has announced a programme that is intended to recognise and support women in business in each locality. Each local council is being asked to nominate the best woman in business in the locality.
The nominated persons will be invited to a seminar and will be presented with a certificate from the Malta Association of Women in Business. This initiative will help to identify women entrepreneurs who are working in different parts of Malta and Gozo and who might not be known to the association.
It is also intended to recognise officially the work that women in business are carrying out in various sectors. The local councils have been asked to choose women who add value in the products or services that are traded in, who are innovative and who practice social responsibility and good business ethics when carrying out their business.
Rosanne Galea, President of the Association said that this scheme is being launched in preparation for a seminar that will be organised to mark International Women in Business day that will be celebrated on 19 May
The seminar which is called: Good Practice in Female Led Enterprises will include guest speakers such as the American Ambassador, Molly Bordonaro who is herself a business woman, Tatjana Hine, President of the British Association of Women in Business and Maria Criscuolo from the Italian Association of Business women – AIDDA. International participation is expected.
The International Women in Business day is celebrated across the world and each association that forms part of Femme Chefs D’Entreprises Mondiales will organise an event to mark this occasion. It is the intention of the Maltese association to dedicate this day to bringing Maltese and overseas business women closer together to network and to learn from each other. This event is being sponsored by the British High Commission and Bank of Valletta.
