Shireburn Retail Solutions at MIA

Shireburn Software has concluded a project to implement its PassengerPOS retail solution in all shops at Malta International Airport. The project has offered state of the art retail capabilities to all concessionaires while allowing centralised analysis of all sales data by MIA
PassengerPOS provides full featured support for retail and catering operations including touch-screen operations with product graphic and buttons, bar code support, multi-currency change management, support for special offers and schemes, support for BOV and HSBC’s new credit card devices, cash reconciliations and much more.
“One of the key features of PassengerPOS is the ability of concessionaires to manage the sales cycle of their shops at MIA remotely from their offices. Pricing and stock card details can be managed remotely and sales and audit information downloaded. Concessionaires can even see a copy of a sales chit just processed on one of their POSs at MIA from their offices,” said Franco Galea, Operations Director of Shireburn Software. Concessionaires can access their data through a special web site created by Shireburn for the project or by integrating their back-office inventory system to PassengerPOS Access for smaller concessionaires is even possible via Excel.
Shireburn’s POS is intended to act as a standard point of sale system for the concessionaires across the complex. It securely records sales data from all concessions centrally for auditing, reporting and statistics while also providing secure, multi-method remote access to the system for uploading and downloading of data by concessionaires. The solution is aimed at operators with retail revenue-share models such as in airports, cruise liner ports, commercial centres and shopping complexes.
The version of this solution aimed at Airports, PassengerPOS, has already been implemented at all retail outlets at Malta International Airport (MIA). “We have proven with other projects that Shireburn are an ideal software partner for complex systems, and we knew that they would be up to delivering a point of sale system to fit our requirements,” says Ruth Delia Giocomotto, Information Systems Manager at MIA.
“PassengerPOS allows concessionaries to administer their own shops remotely or directly from the POS and MIA need not interfere with every single operation required by concessionaires. We are only involved when they have queries or issues, but here again Shireburn are backing us all the time in case there are any issues. Moreover, we can centrally access the sales information and reports of all the POS using just a few mouse clicks. What else can an airport want from a point of sales system?” concluded Ms Delia.
PassengerPOS has already earned very positive reviews from influential international publications such as the specialised International Airports Review, UK tech magazine BizWorld and was also featured on www.airliners.net
