GO backs LAN event for computer fans

GO recently gave the thumbs up to the local LAN party, ClubLAN 2007 and agreed to sponsor this popular event for local I.T. enthusiasts particularly youths from all walks of life. In fact, GO supported this event by providing the broadband connectivity required for this event.
The turn-out at the party was outstanding and the event proved to be an absolute success story with some well-known I.T. communities offering the club-gaming team responsible for organising the event their professional services regarding networking, setting up of tournaments and other on-line gaming-related issues.
LAN parties and normal club parties and concerts with which they are often confused are actually poles apart as the LAN events, based on a new concept of entertainment, target a very specific audience namely the modern-age knowledge-based society. During a LAN party, people get together with their computers and set up a network for the purpose of playing multiplayer computer games.
“GO is delighted to have the opportunity of teaming up with the organisers and giving them support to set up this specific source of entertainment. Such an event is also a way we can provide a showcase of our superior broadband technology,” said Franco Aloisio, GO’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs.
Timothy Cachia, from ClubLAN club-gaming team, thanked GO for supporting their event: “LAN parties have evolved into an integral part of the local culture, with the number of casual gamers increasing every year to create their own unique culture. GO is a perfect partner for such initiatives, thanks to its latest products and the quality of its services.”
