DOK attestation body subcontracts to Sicily

Enoteca Italiana di Siena, the laboratories commissioned to attest DOK (Denominazzjoni tal-Origini Kontrollata) certification to Maltese wines have now subcontracted their scientific procedures to the Sicilian regional institute for wines and grapevines (IRVV).
The Palermo-based institute will now be testing the quality of Maltese wines, and make subsequent comparisons to Italian equivalent DOC certified wines in order to assess product standards.
Confirmed by a press release featured in the Italian media, the IRVV shall now be the body authorised to give the green light to Maltese companies. Maltese wine operators were oblivious to this change when contacted by this newspaper.
