New COO for Melita

Melita Cable yesterday announced the appointment of Stephen Wright as Chief Operations Officer, who will be taking over from CEO Philip Micallef, who will be leaving Melita Cable after completing a successful two-year term at the helm of the company.
During the past two years, Melita Cable consolidated its leadership in its original core business of Cable TV and made inroads into Broadband, two areas where Melita enjoys market leadership and in the first quarter of last year introduced Fixed Line Telephony.
Melita Cable, under the leadership of Stephen Wright, is committed to implement the necessary infrastructural, investment and senior management changes, which will enable Melita to meet the challenges and continued growth in the immediate future.
Melita also announced that it will be introducing new products aimed at different consumers and making significant investments including the laying of a multi-million Euro cable, linking Malta to Europe and the rest of the world. Another major development will be the introduction of mobile communication, which will be launched in the coming months.
The appointment of Stephen Wright and other recent management posts in the mobile and cable operations, is in line with the new Board of Directors strategic growth objectives for Melita.
In a press statement Stephen Wright said that the new challenges require new leadership, investment, talent and operational disciplines in vital areas, which together with Melita’s highly experienced management team will ensure that the company achieves its objectives to be a leading quadruple player in Malta in the shortest possible time. Stephen Wright, who will be leading Melita into its most crucial and exciting growth phase, brings many years of successful experience in Mobile, Telecom and the Cable industry, where he contributed significantly to the dynamic expansion of various companies in Europe.
