ISTC partners up with Texas firm

A strategic alliance recently formed between ISTC (Malta) and TEEX (USA) is expected to firmly establish Malta as a centre of excellence in the provision of specialised training in fire, safety and security in the Mediterranean and African regions.
The scope of this partnership combines the synergies of the two organisations creating a hub for specialised training at the centre of the Mediterranean.
The main aims are to create a wider range and a higher level of academic and vocational training for ISTC’s existing customers whilst also facilitating access to TEEX’s technical training and certification programmes to delegates from companies operating in the African continent.
TEEX (Texas Engineering Extension Service) is recognised as one of the world’s leading institutes of excellence in chemical and petrochemical, industrial, rural, urban, maritime and aviation fire fighting; search and rescue; emergency response; security; management of major emergencies; occupational health and safety, and a wide variety of related and ancillary disciplines. TEEX is a component of Texas A&M University in Houston, USA which trains over 100,000 international delegates every year.
ISTC (International Safety Training Centre) is a subsidiary of the Alberta Group – Malta. Since its formation in the Year 2000 ISTC has gained internationally recognized accreditation from OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation), IMO (International Maritime Organisation) and EFSCA (European Fire Service Colleges Association). These accreditations, combined with its solid reputation for quality training have earned ISTC a prominent position in fire fighting, offshore survival, maritime and occupational health & safety training as well as related fields of expertise. The centre currently hosts students and trainees from the major multinational and national oil & gas, shipping and industrial companies and corporations operating in Italy, Greece, Spain, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea.
