New CEO for Malta Maritime Authority

The Malta Maritime Authority announces the appointment of Dr. Stanley Portelli LL.D as Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
Dr Portelli comes with eight years experience within the maritime industry. Apart from holding the position of executive Director for Human Resources, Legal and Corporate Affairs within Malta Freeport Terminals Ltd. Dr Portelli was on the Board of Directors for the same organisation until 2004.
Dr Portelli was director of MIMCOL and Malta Government Investments Ltd between 2004 and 2008. In 2007 he was appointed member of the Port Workers Board representing Malta Freeport Terminals, and in 2008 was appointed member of the Board of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.
Dr Portelli was educated at De La Salle College and the New Lyceum. He graduated as Notary Public and Doctor of Laws at the University of Malta. After graduating Dr Portelli was employed within the Financial Services Unit at Coopers & Lybrand / PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Dr Portelli is married to Notary Vanessa Pool. They have two children, Lara and Francesca.
