MediaToday journalist wins two awards Journalism Awards

MediaToday journalist Charlot Zahra has won two awards during this year’s edition of the Malta Journalism Awards, which were held at The Palace Hotel in Sliema last Saturday evening.
Zahra, who works for Business Today, MaltaToday and Illum, placed first in the Print Journalism – Features Category and second in the Print Journalism – News Category, in the annual journalism awards organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM)
An independent jury appointed by the IĠM to evaluate the 57 submissions submitted for the 2009 edition of the MJA was composed of Anna Mallia as Chairperson, Mario Azzopardi, Joseph Felice Pace, Winston Azzopardi and Gino Galea.
During the same ceremony, another independent jury presided by former President Eddie Fenech Adami and composed of Clare Thake Vassallo and Carmen Sammut selected Lino Spiteri as this year’s winner of the Gold Award, which is awarded to journalists who go beyond the normal practice of journalism profession during their career.
Addressing the awards ceremony, IGM Chairman Malcolm J. Naudi announced that next year there will be a new category next year for Environmental Journalism, sponsored by GreenPak.
