MSE falls on two stocks decreasing

Yesterday, the local stock exchange closed lower at 3067.486 points, decreasing by 9 points or -0.284%. A total of 38,118 shares were exchanged through twenty three trades for a total value of €87,844. Five stocks traded in the session.
Bank of Valletta p.l.c. was again one of three stocks that were non movers in the days trading session where its share price remained stable at €2.9. A total of five trades, the highest of the day between all stocks traded, were performed through 5,033 shares. Best bid stood at 370 shares at €2.89 against 197 shares at €2.90.
HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. was one of two stocks that took a slight downturn in the session where it lost €0.02c of its share price to settle at €2.68 per share at the end of the trading day. A low volume traded where 570 shares exchanged hands over two deals. Best bid stood at 150 shares at €2.68 against best offer of 2,630 shares at €2.70.
Lombard Bank p.l.c. traded flat in this session where its share price remained at €2.55 per share. The highest volume traded of all the stocks in the session where 15,692 shares were swapped through two deals.
Elsewhere in the market, Medserv p.l.c. and RS2 p.l.c. also traded. Medserv traded flat to close at €3.50 per share whereas RS2 decreased in price by €0.03c per share to end the session at €0.62 per share. Both stocks had three deals being traded through 7,350 shares and 9,473 shares respectively.
On Tuesday 18th August 2009 the Board of Directors of 6PM Holdings p.l.c. announced they are scheduled to meet on the 25th August, 2009 to consider and if thought fit approve 6PM Holdings p.l.c.’s Half Yearly Financial Report for the period ended 30th June 2009.
On Tuesday 18th August 2009 the Board of Directors of GO p.l.c. announced they are scheduled to meet on Monday 31st August 2009 to discuss the companies’ half yearly financial statements for the period 1st January 2009 to 30th June 2009.
In the fixed interest market, a total of €212,230 (thirteen deals) were transacted in Corporate Bonds. Meanwhile, a total of €2,443,795 (seven deals) were transacted in Government Bonds.
